Sinclair Method Studies
This article examines the scientific foundation behind TSM, drawing on nearly three decades of peer‑reviewed trials, neuroimaging research, and systematic reviews.
The Sinclair Method (TSM) is a medically backed approach that uses targeted medication, specifically Naltrexone, to reduce alcohol cravings over time. The principle is simple: take Naltrexone one hour before drinking, and gradually, your brain unlearns the alcohol-reward connection.
The Sinclair Method is a treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) that involves taking the medication naltrexone one to two hours before drinking. Naltrexone blocks endorphins released by alcohol, reducing the brain’s reinforcement of drinking behaviour. Over time, this leads to a natural decrease in alcohol consumption—a process known as pharmacological extinction.
